In yet another bartender fundraising challenge for The Literacy Project, two teams met at The Winery Restaurant & Wine Bar in Newport Beach along with 150 friends and family to make some money for the nonprofit’s goal of helping at-risk children read through its renowned reading program. Team Newport Beach Foundation with Devon Wortmann and Joe Stapleton won the battle by a slight margin over Team Stark with Todd Vande Hei and Nice Peralta. Between the two teams, more than $3,700 was raised in tip donations. The Stark duo served up its signature cocktail, dubbed “Vodka ToddNick,” while the Newport Beach Foundation twosome went with a “MargaREADa.” LiteracyProj.org
